In 2013/2014 the NYDA funded the very first HRSS work readiness training programme. The work readiness training programme resulted in internship opportunities for 102 unemployed youth. The NYDA funding made it possible for HRSS to provide “work ready” graduates for their internship placements in both the private sector and the public sector.
Gauteng East Department of Education [GDE] has partnered with HRSS since 2014. As part of the HRSS TVET public schools programme, the GDE hosted TVET students, who required 18 months Work Integrated Learning (WIL) exposure, to enable them to obtain their National Diplomas. The TVET students attended the HRSS work readiness training and were provided with mentorship support for the duration of their placement at the District Office and in Public schools. To date a total number of 300 unemployed TVET students have benefited from this ongoing project.
